Tournament Result Types

Understand the two result types in Archeris: system-generated (live scoring via mobile app) vs manual upload (static documents). Choose the right approach for your tournament.

When you set up a tournament in Archeris, you have a critical choice to make about how results will be managed: through the system's automated scoring or through manual file uploads. This decision determines whether participants will see live leaderboards and bracket visualizations or static documents uploaded by your organization.

Choose the result type that matches your tournament's workflow and needs. Once selected, the organizer dashboard will show different scoring and management tools.

1. System-Generated Results (Automated Scoring)

Use this if: You want to run qualification and/or elimination rounds using Archeris's scoring system, with real-time scorekeeping and automatic result calculation.

How System-Generated Works

  1. Setup Qualification Sessions: In the Qualification > Sessions menu, create sessions (waves) and configure the number of ends and arrows per end.
  2. Assign Categories: Specify which competition categories (divisions, age groups, gender) shoot in each session.
  3. Allocate Targets: Set which physical target butts are used for each session.
  4. Scorekeepers Enter Scores: During the event, scorekeepers use the mobile app to scan target barcodes and input arrow scores end-by-end in real time.
  5. Auto-Calculate Rankings: Archeris automatically aggregates scores (total, 10s count, X-count) to generate official qualification leaderboards.
  6. Setup Elimination (Optional): For tournaments with brackets, go to Elimination > Brackets and click Generate to automatically seed the elimination bracket from qualification rankings.
  7. Elimination Scoring: Scorekeepers continue entering match results via the mobile app.
  8. Publish Results: Once qualification is locked or elimination is complete, results appear automatically on the public tournament page with live leaderboards and bracket visualizations.

What Participants See

On the Results tab of the public tournament page:

  • Qualification Leaderboard: Interactive table showing rank, archer name, club, scores per end, totals, 10-count, X-count, with category filters and sorting.
  • Elimination Bracket: Visual bracket diagram showing seed positions, match results, and winner progression round-by-round.
  • Live Updates: Results update in real-time as scorekeepers input data (refreshable by viewers).

System-generated results are ideal for transparent, official tournaments where participants and spectators want to see live scoring as it happens.

2. Manual Upload Results (Static Documents)

Use this if: You used an external scoring system (iAnseo, legacy platform, or manual scoring), results were already concluded, or you only need participant registration with results as informational attachments.

How Manual Upload Works

  1. Create Tournament & Register Participants: Set up the tournament event and registration (using the Participant Management module). Participants register normally through the app.
  2. Prepare Result Files: Create your result documents externally (PDF, spreadsheet, images, etc.) — ranking lists, medal tallies, statistics, etc.
  3. Upload via Dashboard: In the organizer dashboard Hasil (Results) tab, use the file upload area to drag-and-drop or select your result files. Supported formats: PDF, JPEG, PNG. Max 10MB per file.
  4. Add Titles: Give each file a descriptive title (e.g., "Final Ranking PDF", "Medal Distribution", "Statistics Report").
  5. Publish: Save the tournament settings to publish the files to the public page.

What Participants See

On the Results tab of the public tournament page:

  • Result Cards (Grid Layout): Each uploaded file is shown as a card with the title, file type icon (PDF, image), and action buttons.
  • Preview & Download: Participants can preview PDF files inline (embedded viewer) or images, and download each file.
  • No Interactivity: Files are static — no filtering, sorting, or live updates.

Manual uploads are quick for past events or when you already have results from another platform — just upload and done. Use this when Archeris is handling registration only, not the scoring.

3. Choosing the Right Result Type

Aspect System-Generated Manual Upload
Best for... Live tournaments with scoring on-site Past events, external scoring, registration-only events
Scorekeeping Mobile app (barcode scanning, real-time input) Not used — results from external source
Result Display Live leaderboards, interactive brackets, real-time Static PDF/image cards, downloadable
Setup Complexity Requires qualification/elimination configuration Just upload files, minimal setup
Participant Experience Transparent, exciting, live updates Simple, static, archive-like

Decision Tree

Ask yourself:

  • Are you running scorekeeping during the tournament (right now)? → System-Generated
  • Did you use a different platform for scoring? → Manual Upload
  • Is this a past/concluded event? → Manual Upload
  • Do you want live leaderboards on the public page? → System-Generated
  • Do you just want to show results as PDF/images? → Manual Upload

When in doubt, default to System-Generated if you plan to run live scoring on the day — it gives participants and spectators a far richer experience.

4. Can You Change Result Type After Setup?

Yes. You can switch between system-generated and manual upload at any time by editing the tournament settings in the organizer dashboard. However, understand that:

  • Switching to Manual Upload: Any qualification/elimination data already entered will not be shown on the public page. Upload files will appear instead.
  • Switching to System-Generated: Any manually uploaded files are retained but hidden. If you set up qualification/elimination, system-generated results will be used instead.

It's best to decide early and stick with one approach for clarity.
