Field Scoring Guide for Scorekeepers
A practical step-by-step guide for target scorekeepers to enter arrow values per end, understand color buttons, correct mistakes, and submit scores to the live leaderboard.
Once you are logged in and standing at your assigned target butt, the scoring interface is ready for arrow input. Your job is to enter the value of each arrow as the athletes call them out. The system handles all the math automatically, including running totals, 10s and Xs counts, and live leaderboard updates.
1. Keypad Color Buttons & Values
The Archeris keypad matches official World Archery target face ring colors for quick and mistake-free input:
- Gold Buttons (X & 10): 10 points.
X(inner center ring) is tracked separately for tie-breaker calculations. - Gold Button (9): 9 points.
- Red Buttons (8 & 7): 8 and 7 points.
- Blue Buttons (6 & 5): 6 and 5 points.
- Black Buttons (4 & 3): 4 and 3 points.
- White Buttons (2 & 1): 2 and 1 points.
- Green Button (M): Miss (0 points) if an arrow misses the scoring face entirely.
You do not need to enter arrows in any specific order. The system automatically sorts values from highest to lowest once the end is saved, matching official World Archery scorecard format.
2. How to Record Scores Each End
Follow these quick steps after each shooting end:
- Tap the tab for the archer calling their arrows (for example, Archer 1A).
- Tap the keypad buttons corresponding to the arrows in the target (e.g.,
X,10,9,8,8,7). The arrow boxes fill in automatically. - Switch to the next archer tabs (1B, 1C, and 1D) and enter their arrows until all archers at the target butt are complete.
Take turns with archers calling out their scores. Enter one archer at a time rather than trying to remember all values at once to keep scoring accurate.
3. Correcting Misclicked Arrow Values
If you accidentally tap the wrong button before saving the end:
- Simply tap on the specific arrow box that contains the wrong score, then tap the correct number on the keypad to replace it.
- Tap the Backspace (⌫) button to erase the last arrow value entered.
Corrections can also be made by the organizer from the dashboard after an end is saved, so if you notice an error after submitting, notify the tournament director to update the value.
4. Athlete Verification & Saving the End
Before leaving the target butt, always confirm scores with the athletes:
- Show the phone screen to all archers at the target so they can double-check their end score and cumulative total.
- Once everyone agrees, tap the Save & Next End button at the bottom of the screen.
- The scores immediately sync with the main tournament server and the public leaderboard updates in real time.
Never pull arrows from the target before all archers have confirmed the scores on screen. Once arrows are pulled, disputed values cannot be verified physically.
5. Essential Target Line Tips
Keep these points in mind throughout the session:
- Line Cutters: If an arrow touches a dividing ring line and archers disagree on the value, do not guess and do not pull the arrow. Call a Line Judge / Referee for an official ruling before arrows are removed.
- Disputed Arrows: Never override an athlete's called score unless a judge has ruled. Your role is to record accurately.
- Connection drops: If your connection drops during scoring, finish entering the current end and tap Save. The app will sync automatically once connection is restored.
